Happy New Year!

CHARLES SCHULTZ PHILOSOPHY

You don't actually have to take the quiz. Just read this straight through and you'll get the point. It is trying to make an awesome point!

Here's the first quiz:

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The facts are, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today ...... It's already tomorrow in Australia."

Veteran's Day

This Wednesday, we honor those who have served our nation in the military.  Veterans Day rightly draws our attention to these men and women.  Many of our lives have been touched by family and friends who are or who have been in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard.

To each and every Veteran,  Thank You for your sacrifices and our freedoms.

"The willingness of America’s veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.”   —Jeff Miller

Human Nature

While we're striving to change our life or wishing things could have been different, we forget to
pay attention to what you need, Sounds simple right.

Oh I’m hungry, I need to eat.   Oh I’m thirsty, I need to drink. Oh, I’m emotionally upset, I need to go for a run and then have a bath.

It’s real easy to get all hung up on ‘doing things right’ and ‘getting better’ all the time; However, we’re so damn good at deferring and denying our needs, that most of us have no skills at all around meeting our needs.

Our body needs rest, we plough on. We need to be heard, we don’t speak up.

Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves that it’s okay to be just as we are. It’s okay to let things slide sometimes, it’s okay not to be perfect, or to have mastered anything

Mastering life means knowing exactly what your needs are and meeting them, no excuses.
